Gregory's metal sculptures are drawn from the underwater world....literally. Similar to traditional 'found object' artists who comb garbage dumps for interesting pieces of cast off societal waste, Gregory is ever watchful underwater. The pieces he collects hold no historical value other than to mark man's disregard for the underwater environment. Some pieces create a hazard for marine species and his removal of them helps to improve the Great Lakes marine habitat.
Each piece is cleaned of zebra mussels, sorted and eventually combined with other pieces to create three dimensional sculpture. Gregory's creative challenge is to use each piece without altering it's found nature, be that straight as an arrow or twisted and bent.
